Terms of Service
Last updated: April 16, 2026
These terms govern your use of CapitalScout (the “Service”), operated from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.
1. The Service
CapitalScout provides information about grants, loans, rebates, wage subsidies, and tax credits available to residents and businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Service is an information aggregator: we do not administer any funding program, do not approve applications, and cannot guarantee the accuracy or timeliness of program details.
Always verify with the official program administrator before committing time or money to an application.
2. Accounts
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining access to that email address; sign-in is via magic link and we do not offer password-based authentication.
3. Paid plans
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. You can cancel at any time from the customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and we do not pro-rate refunds for partial months.
Prices are listed on the pricing page and are exclusive of any applicable taxes. We may change prices on 30 days’ notice; price changes do not affect your current billing period.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service;
- resell, redistribute, or republish program data;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, infrastructure, or third-party systems we use;
- use the Service to send unsolicited communications or to violate any applicable law (including Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation).
5. Intellectual property
Program data is sourced from publicly available government pages and remains the property of those publishers. The aggregation, scoring, match logic, and editorial commentary on the Service are CapitalScout’s. You may use search results and matches for your own funding decisions; you may not redistribute them.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. Match scores, “realistic award” estimates, and time-to-cash projections are model outputs based on historical disclosure data and our best understanding of program criteria; they are not guarantees and should not be relied on as financial advice.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CapitalScout’s aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost funding opportunities.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or use the Service in a way that jeopardises its operation. You may delete your account at any time from your account page; deletion is irreversible.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email and take effect 30 days after the notice. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The courts of Newfoundland and Labrador have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
